The Oak Ridge High School Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team hosted a District match against Bearden Tuesday night at Wildcat Arena. The Lady Wildcats had few troubles with the Lady Bulldogs defeating them in straight sets. “It’s always good to get a win against a District team,” said Oak Ridge Head Coach David Kolodney. “Those are the matches we need in order to put ourselves in the best spot for the postseason.” Oak Ridge remains firmly atop the District 4-AAA standings with a perfect District record. “But I’m much happier with our serving tonight,” Kolodney continued. “We’ve struggled with consistency behind the baseline but found it tonight.” The Lady Wildcats had five of six servers over 90% while delivering over 20% Aces as a team. Oak Ridge was paced by Senior Outside Hitter Ainsley Patrick who nailed 27 of 28 of her serves while notching nine aces – one ace shy of accomplishing a triple-double, and Junior Piper Suddeth amassed 30 Assists. “Consistency that leads to long runs, like Ainsley going on a 13 point serving run, gives us some breathing room in these sets – which is always a good thing,” Kolodney finished. “Beyond serving, we did a lot of things really well tonight including continued good play defensively at the net.”
Oak Ridge hits the road to face Halls Thursday night for another District match-up. The Lady Wildcats are 6-1 on the season (4-0 District 4-AAA).
