The Oak Ridge High School Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team cruised past District foe Powell Thursday night in front of a raucous crowd in Wildcat Arena. The Lady Wildcats easily swept the Lady Panthers in three Sets. “This was a good match to end a successful week,” said Oak Ridge Head Coach David Kolodney. “We knew we had some things to work on after the first two and I think yesterday’s practice did us good.” The Lady ‘Cats had a busy three-match week, only leaving Wednesday for some practice time. “We served and passed better tonight which had been our focus,” Kolodney continued. “So it’s always good to see immediate returns on effort.” Oak Ridge was led by Junior Outside Hitter Alex Shanafield, who had a team high six Kills, earning her player of the match honors from her Coach. “We got impact plays from all 10 players tonight – a great testament to the depth of our bench and a chance to give our starters some rest,” Kolodney finished. “It’s always good to get these district wins.”
Oak Ridge returns to action at Hardin Valley Academy for the first of two road matches next week. The Lady ‘Cats return home for District rival Bearden on Tuesday before travelling to Halls on Thursday. The Lady Wildcats are 4-1 on the season (3-0 District 4-AAA).
