Oak Ridge Volleyball clinches regular season District Championship with victory over Bearden

Buzz Patrick

The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team traveled to Bearden for a match pitting the first and second place teams in the District 4-AAA standings. The Lady Wildcats prevailed in three sets assuring another regular season District Championship. “We had another good district win tonight,” said Oak Ridge Head Coach David Kolodney. “Bearden gave us a good run and it was a nice quick paced match.” The Lady Bulldogs kept it close in the first two Sets but the Lady Wildcats were able to finish strong to win them both, and Bearden was never able to recover in the third. “We made too many unforced errors but did a really good job picking each other up and covering for miscues and blocks,” Kolodney continued. “We definitely need to clean up those errors to give us more control over how the match goes.” Oak Ridge had a total of 21 errors between their attacks and serves. “We’ll watch the video and see what we can fix before next week’s big matches,” Kolodney finished.

The Lady Wildcats have added a game Monday night at Concord Christian to fill the open date left by the Halls COVID forfeit. Oak Ridge closes out the regular season next week with three matches (at Concord, Farragut, and Senior Night Wednesday against Karns). The Lady Wildcats improve to 14-2 on the season (10-0 District 4-AAA).
