Oak Ridge Volleyball downs Campbell County for second time this season

The Oak Ridge Lady Wildcat Volleyball Team traveled to Campbell County Thursday night for their third game in as many days. The Lady ‘Cats won handily in three straight sets. “This was a good way to begin our second trip through the District,” said Oak Ridge Coach Dave Kolodney. “There aren’t many secrets with these teams the second time around, so both teams know what to expect - we knew we had to show up and play.” And Campbell County expected fast pace attack and aggressive serves, and the Lady Wildcats delivered. Senior Co-Captain Paige Halcrow led the 22 Ace barrage with 9 Aces at a 75% Ace rate, while her fellow Co-Captain, Ainsley Patrick, pounded 12 Kills – one of which being her 1,000 career Kill. “We had a much better day passing than we did yesterday, which was a big reason for our success at the net and overall,” Kolodney continued. “But we also served much better tonight.” Serving 22 Aces is only the second highest tally this season, yet still is good enough for 4th highest match of all time for the Lady Wildcats. “When you serve well and receive well, you’re able to dictate the play - which is how we play our best,” finished Kolodney. “We’ll be looking to repeat this formula on Tuesday.”

Oak Ridge plays host to 5th ranked Knoxville Catholic on Tuesday night and then travels to West for a District Match on Thursday. The Lady Wildcats improve to 10-1 on the season (7-0 District 4-AAA).
